3.1 crore Star health india user data leaked hacker make available for sale on a website


Star Health Data Leak: Data of crores of users has been leaked from Star Health and Allied Insurance Company. According to the report, personal information of about 3.1 crore customers has been leaked. This data leak includes sensitive information like mobile number, PAN card details, address of people and medical conditions.

Reason for data leak

A hacker is said to be behind this data leak, who has claimed that the company’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) has sold this data. Following this incident, the company has launched a forensic investigation and is working closely with government and regulatory authorities.

What did the hackers say?

After making this data available for sale, the hackers wrote on their website, “I am leaking the data of all the customers and insurance claims of Star Health India and this leaked data is sponsored by Star Health and its associated insurance companies. They have sold this data directly to me. You can check these leaked data on my Telegram bot below.

Company response

Star Health released a statement after the incident, in which they said that their operations have not been impacted by the incident and they are thoroughly investigating the matter. The company has also raised this matter in the Madras High Court and the court has ordered all concerned parties to remove the leaked information.
